Arthur Murray Dance Showcase: What Is It All About?

Do you love to dance? If so, you will not want to miss the Arthur Murray Dance Showcase. This event is a must-attend for all dancers – from beginners to experts. Attendees can expect a day of social dancing, professional shows, and fun!
Showcase is a dance festival where Arthur Murray studios get together for a day of social dancing, professional shows & dinner.

Showcase Daytime Part

The day part consists of dance demonstrations structured in rounds called heats, which last approximately one minute and 30 seconds.
Each heat represents one dance type (e.g., tango, waltz) in which several student-teacher or student-student couples perform simultaneously on the dance floor.
In addition, students have the opportunity to present a solo — the floor is reserved for that particular student and a teacher only.

The number one goal of any Showcase is to build confidence in your dancing.

Many dancers worry about performing in front of an audience. The key to truly enjoying yourself and performing at the peak of your abilities is to become desensitized to dancing in front of people.
The fastest way to build confidence in your dancing is to participate in our Showcases. It gives students of all levels the opportunity to dance outside the Studio, in a social environment and in front of a crowd but without the stress of performing at a professional competition.

This is Not A Competition.

The adjudicators give participants written feedback on their dancing but there is no “competitive” pressure: students are not judged against each other and all the critique is confidential.

Instead of comparing you to other dancers, they’ll give you feedback to show how well you performed based on your current level.

Your instructor will then work with your to help implement their critiques. Together you will elaborate and share ideas for the next chapter of your dance journey.

Arthur Murray’s Showcases Are For Everyone.

Even if you’ve just started dancing, you’re welcome to join in the Showcase. Students who have only taken lessons at Arthur Murray for two weeks have participated in the Showcase.

Your instructor will create a plan for the showcase that will suit your goals and will make sure you’re confident with everything you’re going to dance on the day. They will share their experience in managing stage fright (yes, even professionals have it).

All Showcases feature a Newcomer Division. This is restricted to students who are participating in their first event and have had fewer than 50 lessons. This is a very special thing for all students, teachers and even judges - all people remember their first steps in dancing and always cheer the newbies up as much as they can.

When you finish your heats, you will get to sit, relax, and watch your fellow students perform.

Gala Ball

The showcase concludes with a dinner and a party where all participants and their guests relax and dance with each other.

The showcase is a great opportunity to build confidence in your dancing and meet other dancers from other Arthur Murray schools.
As you become a more advanced dancer, showcases start having additional benefits: it becomes a great short to medium-term goal to work towards. Be sure to mark the date on your calendar and join us for a day of dancing fun!
After all, it is just a very special way to celebrate - dress up, dance your favourite dances and enjoy good company!
